It wasn't long ago that the coolest item on Clea DuVall's resume was a guest spot on Buffy the Vampire Slayer as Marcie Ross, the girl everyone ignored for so long she just faded away. Well, there's nothing invisible about her anymore. A formerindie darling (she's been called the next Parker Posey and the next Claire Danes), she finished 1998 with roles in The Faculty and Can't Hardly Wait.
And for 1999, the 22-year-old California native (by the way, she is not related to Robert Duvall) is involved with some of young Hollywood's hottest projects.
Look for her in the dramedy Commited, with Heather Graham; the thriller The Astronaut's Wife, with Johnny Depp and Charlize Theron; the teen comedy But I'm a Cheerleader, with Natasha Lyonne; and the romantic comedy She's All That, with Freddie Prinze Jr.
If that's not enough, DuVall is about to start work on Girl, Interrupted, a true story about a girl's 18-month stay at a mental hospital in the '60s. "It's a movie I've wanted to do for the last three years," she says. And with Wynona Ryder and Whoopi Goldberg attached, it's easy to see why.
"It's going to be a good year," predicts DuVall. "I just want to keep working hard, doing good work and working with good people." Looks lime she's three for three at this point.
